Movea Accelerates Expansion of MotionIC™ Platform

Increases Focus on Development of MotionIC IP and Technology; Transfers Gyration Assets to SMK-Link

Grenoble, France - February 22, 2011 -- Movea, the pioneer in motion-sensing and motion-control technologies, is accelerating development of its MotionIC™ platform as a result of heightened industry demand since the launch of the platform in fall 2010. As part of this strategy, Movea has sold the assets of its Gyration business unit to SMK-Link. Under the terms of the agreement, SMK-Link becomes a customer of Movea and will license Movea's SmartMotion™, MotionIC and MotionTools™ technologies.

In recent months, Movea has announced design wins with a SmartMotion™ remote control for French IPTV provider Free and a motion-enabled, RF4CE remote control reference design from Texas Instruments. Additionally, the company has announced strategic partnerships with SMK Europe and Sunrex Technology to co-develop motion enabled products built on the MotionIC platform.

The market has responded incredibly well to our MotionIC message,” said Sam Guilaumé, CEO of Movea. “The increased demand we've seen over the last 6 months showed us that it’s time to accelerate our MotionIC strategy and take it to the next level. This deal furthers our strategy and makes it possible for us to focus on our core mission to make motion sensing ubiquitous through development and promotion of MotionIC technologies.”

Movea is engaged in a range of markets including Sports, Wellness and Healthcare, and the very promising interactive TV which includes: Connected TV’s, IPTV, and advanced set-top boxes for Cable and Satellite services. Research firm DisplaySearch, in its Q4’10 Quarterly TV Design and Features Report, predicts 63 million televisions sold in 2011 will include internet connectivity, a number that DisplaySearch expects to almost double by 2014 to more than 122 million units per year.

One of the most exciting areas of innovation we saw at CES this year focused on Internet connected TV’s,” said Bryan Hoadley, EVP of WW Sales and GM of Movea. “The growth of interactive entertainment is driving enormous demand to incorporate motion into the experience. Movea's MotionIC capabilities enable TV OEM’s, remote control and set-top box manufacturers, and PayTV service providers to more rapidly develop motion-equipped products that enhance the user experience and create new levels of interactivity. We're excited about this market and MotionIC is paving the way.”
